Engagement Manager

As an Engagement Manager, you take ownership of day-to-day project delivery, manage small teams and working closely with clients across commercial due diligence, value creation, and M&A strategy projects. You turn analysis into action, ensuring recommendations translate in results. This role is ideal for consultants who want to grow into Principals who want to learn how to deliver excellence, leadership and commercial ownership.

You will lead engagements, manage client relationships, and coach interns and freelance consultants. You bring structure, analytical depth and an entrepreneurial mindset that challenges both clients and colleagues to raise the bar.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver measurable client impact (70%)

  • Take full ownership of end-to-end project management in commercial due diligence, value creation, or M&A strategy.

  • Act as a strategic sparring partner for clients, building long-term relationships based on trust and insight.

  • Ensure all project deliverables meet the highest standards of analytical depth and strategic clarity.

  • Lead high-stakes client meetings and workshops to drive alignment and decision-making.

2. Develop Kookoo’s way of working (20%)

  • Identify and quantify new value creation opportunities during active engagements.

  • Support firm growth by leading proposal writing, project scoping, and commercial client communication.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Kookoo’s proprietary methodologies, templates, and digital toolkits.

3. Grow people and culture (10%)

  • Coach and mentor interns and freelance consultants on projects, providing hands-on guidance and structured performance feedback.

  • Contribute to firm-building activities, including recruitment, knowledge sharing, and internal capability development.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture that values diverse perspectives.

 

Qualifications

Hard skills

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field

  • 5–7 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leading strategy consulting firm.

  • Proven track record of success in commercial due diligence, value creation, or M&A strategy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with highly structured verbal and written communication.

  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch or French is highly preferred.

Soft Skills

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and commercial acumen.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at the C-suite level.

  • Collaborative team player who thrives on learning, giving/receiving feedback, and continuous improvement.
