Engagement Manager

As an Engagement Manager, you take ownership of day-to-day project delivery, manage small teams and working closely with clients across commercial due diligence, value creation, and M&A strategy projects. You turn analysis into action, ensuring recommendations translate in results. This role is ideal for consultants who want to grow into Principals who want to learn how to deliver excellence, leadership and commercial ownership.

You will lead engagements, manage client relationships, and coach interns and freelance consultants. You bring structure, analytical depth and an entrepreneurial mindset that challenges both clients and colleagues to raise the bar.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver measurable client impact (70%)

  • Manage projects in commercial due diligence, value creation or M&A strategy.

  • Ensure deliverables meet the highest standards.

  • Build relationships with our clients and become a sparring partner.


2. Develop Kookoo’s way of working (20%)

  • Contribute to improving our methodologies, templates and toolkits.

  • Support proposal writing, project scoping and client communication.

  • Identify and quantify new value creation opportunities during projects.


3. Grow people and culture (10%)

  • Coach interns and freelancers, fostering their growth through hands-on guidance and clear performance feedback.

  • Contribute to firm-building activities such as recruitment and knowledge sharing.

 

Qualifications

Hard skills

  • Master’s degree; MBA is a plus.

  • 5-7 years of experience, including 3+ years in a leading strategy consulting firm.

  • Proven record of success in commercial due diligence, value creation, or M&A strategy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured communication.

Soft Skills

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ownership mentality.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Collaborative team player who thrives on learning and feedback.
